First-Hand Insights on Corredor Gastronómico
The best thing about Mérida’s newest restaurant strip? It’s just a 5–minute walk from our house. But I’ll admit, that’s a pretty subjective opinion 😄
The new Restaurant Row ("Corredor Gastronómico y Turistíco" or "Calle gastronómica La Plancha") extends about four blocks east on Calle 47 from the south traffic circle (remate) of Paseo de Montejo.
Here you will find an overview of the Corredor Gastronómico. But if you’d like to dive into a full compilation of all the restaurants and café, I highly recommend our special: The new Corredor Gastronómico in Mérida.

Having spent a lot of time exploring Mérida’s food scene and learning about local traditions, I’ve come to appreciate just how unique Yucatecan cuisine really is.
It is an eclectic blend of classic Mayan cuisine with Lebanese, Caribbean and Western European influences. There is street food, numerous food markets, cantinas and many great restaurants in Mérida - the options are incredibly diverse.
There are more than 900 restaurants and cafés in Mérida. Aside from the restaurant row (Calle 47), the main areas where you’ll find the best places to eat are the historic city center, along Paseo de Montejo, and in the northern part of the city.
Calle 47, along with a few other central streets, underwent major renovations in 2023 – it now features a paved road and benches along the sidewalks. On its eastern end, Calle 47 leads directly to Parque La Plancha.

Where to Eat and Drink?
You'll find some of the city's best restaurants and trendiest cafés on the restaurant row.
Here are my recommendations:
Olivia Enoteca (Italian cuisine, finer dining)
130 Grados Steakhouse (tasty steaks, but expensive)
Catrín (a somewhat simpler restaurant)
Micaela Mar & Leña (local delicacies, upscale ambience)

If you are looking for a cafe:
Cafetería Impala (an institution in Mérida)
Latte Quatro Sette (a fine Italian café)
Café Marmalade (for a traditional breakfast)
Baretto Espresso Bar (for a quick espresso with a croissant)

Or you can stop by the great Cantina El Lucero del Alba.

These are the most famous and popular, but there are several more to discover.
Keep in mind that it's a regular traffic street and not a pedestrian zone. Some restaurants and cafés do offer outdoor seating along the street, though usually only a few tables. If you'd prefer a quieter atmosphere, you'll likely want to find a place with a courtyard.
