First-Hand Insights on Márago Coffee
The Márago Coffee is located twice in Mérida - and each in a top location. One coffee shop is located on Calle 60 at the intersection with Calle 57, one block from Parque de Santa Lucía (or two blocks away from Plaza Grande).
Another Márago Coffee is located directly at Paseo de Montejo (No. 481). Opposite, on the other side of Paseo de Montejo, you will find the popular Dulceria y Sorbeteria Colon.
You’ll find a great selection of specialty coffees, along with a delicious breakfast menu featuring for example French toast, baguettes, pancakes, omelets, poached eggs, and avocado toast.
For lunch, there are options like fresh salads and juicy hamburgers, making it a great spot for a midday meal. If you have a sweet tooth, the dessert menu includes a variety of cakes, tiramisu, and more. In short, the menu is extensive.

Márago at Calle 60
Márago Coffee at Calle 60 is directly opposite the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán (Autonomous University of Yucatan) and the Teatro José Peón Contreras (Jose Peon Contreras Theater).
Right next to the café on Calle 57 you will also find the well-known Cafetería Pop y Restaurante Pórtico del Peregrino.
Márago at Paseo de Montejo
Márago Coffee on Paseo de Montejo offers both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings. From the outdoor area, you can take in views of the bustling avenue and its historic mansions.
On weekends, don't be surprised if you have to wait a bit to get a seat. Also because of the good WiFi connection, the cafe is popular with digital nomads and you will often see someone with a laptop.
Of course, prices are a bit upscale in keeping with the exclusive location.

Coffee Preparation
At Márago Coffee, the focus is not just on great coffee but also on the art of preparation and the variety of drinks available. One unique aspect is that you can choose how your coffee is brewed, allowing you to experience different flavors and textures.
Here are the four most important coffee preparation methods:
Espresso (Portafilter Machine): The foundation of most café drinks, espresso is made by forcing hot water through finely ground coffee under high pressure. This method produces a strong, concentrated coffee with a rich crema.
Filter Coffee (Drip Coffee): A classic method where hot water slowly passes through ground coffee in a filter, producing a smooth and clean cup. This technique highlights the natural flavors of the beans and is often preferred for black coffee.
French Press: Coffee grounds are steeped in hot water for several minutes before being pressed with a plunger. This method creates a full-bodied and aromatic brew with a slightly richer texture due to the natural oils remaining in the coffee.
AeroPress: A versatile brewing method where coffee is steeped and then forced through a filter using air pressure. It produces a smooth, strong coffee with low acidity and can be adjusted for espresso-style shots or a lighter cup.
You can also add flavors like coconut, caramel, or vanilla to your coffee or cappuccino.

Smoothies, Frappes & Juices
If you're in the mood for something cold, there are more than ten different frappes (a blended cold drink with coffee or milk) to choose from, as well as iced coffee and a selection of specialty teas.
You'll also find smoothies made with water, milk, or yogurt, freshly squeezed fruit juices, and plenty of other refreshing drinks.
