First-Hand Insights on Mercado 60

Can’t decide where to go because everyone wants something different? Then I’d say Mercado 60 might just be the perfect place. I love the vibe – it’s a trendy open-air food court with about 20 food stalls, grills, and cocktail bars, all tucked along Calle 60.

The entrance to Mercado 60 – not to be confused with Paseo 60 – is somewhat hidden but the place is very centrally located one block north Parque de Santa Lucia. It doesn't matter where you sit, because all the restaurants share the available tables.

Mercado 60 opens at 6:00 PM and stays open until 3:00 AM, if you can last that long! They currently features eight restaurants, four bars, a food truck, a concept store, and two stages for live performances, along with a dedicated space for private events.

When I spoke with one of the operators, they told me the venue holds over 700 people and welcomes around 25,000 visitors each month – it’s clearly become a lively gathering spot.

By the way, Calle 60 is one of Mérida’s well-known restaurant areas, offering plenty of great places to eat. The culinary corridor stretches from Plaza Grande (Calle 61) to around the SoHo Gallery (Calle 43), making it a perfect spot for exploring local flavors.

Mercado 60 Eateries

At Mercado 60, you'll find a diverse selection of cuisines, including Mexican, Latin American, American, Japanese, Italian, French, and Argentine dishes.

For instance, you can enjoy

  • authentic Mexican tacos,

  • american burgers,

  • fresh sushi and ramen (a Japanese noodle soup),

  • flavorful baos (steamed buns from Asian cuisine),

  • and wood-fired pizzas.

Some of the featured eateries include La Sabrosa for traditional Mexican fare and Sushi Hoku for Japanese sushi or ramen. It's not a place for gourmets, but there should be something for everyone.

What to Expect at Mercado 60

The nice ambience is complemented by live music from local bands, for which there are two small stages. If you want loud music, dancing (a dance floor is available) and hustle and bustle, you should come around 9:00 pm.

The target audience is rather young. Is everything a bit touristy? Yes, it is. But that doesn't matter, so Mercado 60 is a nice spot in Mérida for dinner, drinks, fun and dancing.
