Tokio 07 Izakaya, located in northeast Mérida at the entrance to Cholul, serves up authentic Japanese cuisine in a relaxed setting.

The menu features a wide variety of sushi, from California rolls to maki and sashimi, with some creative twists like a sushi burger.

If you love ramen, you'll find some solid options here, and there are also other Japanese dishes and sweet treats like matcha ice cream and New York cheesecake.

For drinks, the selection is surprisingly varied, offering everything from traditional Jamaica and tamarind drinks to soda, lemonade, Heineken, and even wine.

Anything Else to Know?

The prices are reasonable, and if someone in your group isn’t into Japanese food, there's a Los Taquitos restaurant right next door. A big plus is the spacious parking lot right in front of the restaurants, making it easy to stop by without hassle.

• Sushi Club Mérida is situated in Plaza Mangus, a shopping center on the northern edge of Mérida. The highly recommended restaurants Aura Rooftop and Cienfuegos can also be found within the same building.

• Miyabi | El Árbol is our favorite sushi restaurant. Situated in the quaint Árbol shopping center, it lies a few kilometers north of the city center. The restaurant was built around an old tree that extends through the roof.
