All about Porfirio's Restaurant in Mérida, Mexico (2025)

Porfirio’s in Mérida is known for offering some of the best Mexican food in the city. I can’t personally recommend it yet, simply because I haven’t been there myself, but it’s definitely on my list to check out soon.

It regularly ranks in the top 10 on Tripadvisor out of nearly 900 restaurants, and the reviews are consistently strong across the board. Tripadvisor has also recognized it with a Travellers' Choice award.

The restaurant is part of the Anderson’s Group and focuses on contemporary Mexican cuisine, blending traditional homemade recipes with modern urban influences from different regions of Mexico.

In addition to Porfirio’s in Mérida, there are several other locations across Mexico, including some on the Yucatán Peninsula, such as Playa Del Carmen, Cancun and Tulum.

A Peek at the Menu

For starters, for example, there is seared New York steak, flamed tableside with mezcal and accompanied by avocado. For the main course, for example, enmoladas (chicken in almond mole, onions, basket cheese and creamy goat's cheese).

Perhaps you are also in the mood for a grilled salmon with mustard butter, chard, spicy soy sauce and corn? There are also tacos in many variations, menus especially for children and delicious desserts.

Parking, Wi-Fi & Reservations

If you're heading to Porfirio's, you won’t have to worry about parking, there’s plenty of space available. Inside, you’ll find free Wi-Fi and a supervised kids' area, so it's a great spot if you're dining with family.

Every Friday and Saturday, there’s a live mariachi show, which adds to the atmosphere. It is recommended to reserve a table in advance to ensure you get a spot during the live performances.

The Harbor Lifestyle Mall

You’ll find Porfirio’s in Mérida in the relatively new Harbor Lifestyle Mall (opened in 2019). The Harbor Lifestyle Mall is the newest major shopping center in Mérida, located in the north of the city along the Periférico.

It features a modern design with lakes, fountains, and lush greenery, making it a pleasant place to walk around, and it’s also pet-friendly. The mall offers a mix of fashion, beauty, and technology stores, as well as a variety of additional dining options.

While it’s still growing in popularity, ongoing events, a Cinépolis cinema, and attractions like a zipline and play areas for kids make it an increasingly appealing place to visit.
