First-Hand Insights on Pan & Kof.feé
The great coffee shop Pan & Koffee (correctly written: Pan & Køf.feé) is located in the Santa Ana neighborhood, only some blocks from Casa Loltún on Calle 43, but on the other side of Paseo de Montejo.
"Good people, good coffee, inspiring design" – that’s all it says on Instagram, but it captures the essence perfectly. Fresh bread, rolls, and croissants are baked in-house every morning.
On two floors and in a small courtyard you can enjoy your breakfast in a really very nice ambience. In the courtyard there are only 3-4 tables, which are mostly occupied.
But my favorite place is on the second floor anyway. Here you have, depending on the table, a view from above on the counter area of the first floor and can watch the hustle and bustle with a cozy cup of coffee.

On the menu you can find French toast, avocado toast with salad, yogurt with muesli, omelettes, scrambled eggs, bread with jam and much more. I usually go for the avocado toast here - it’s absolutely delicious. The freshly squeezed orange juice is also very tasty.

If I could only recommend one coffee shop in Mérida, it would be this one. In addition to Facebook you can also find Pan & Køf.feé on Instagram, if you’d like to check out more photos.
The Pastries
If you like sweets, you will find a variety of pastries on the menu: croissants with chocolate, cinnamon rolls, almond croissants with vanilla cream and much more. The pastries are also baked fresh on-site every morning.

When you walk in, I recommend taking a look at the pastries displayed in the showcase at the counter so you can decide what you’d like beforehand. But honestly, everything at Pan & Koffee is very tasty.
Rosca de Reyes
If you’re in Mérida around January 6th, for Día de Reyes (Three Kings’ Day), make sure to try rosca de reyes. This delicious treat is usually available a few days earlier, starting around January 3rd, at places like Pan & Koffee - but you’ll also find it at many other bakeries and cafes across the city.
Rosca de reyes is a traditional Mexican pastry shaped like a wreath and decorated with colorful candied fruits, symbolizing the crowns of the Three Kings. Inside, small figurines of baby Jesus are hidden, adding an element of surprise to this festive treat.

Sharing a rosca de reyes is a cherished tradition in Mexico, where families and friends gather to celebrate and enjoy the cake together.
The person who finds the figurine is said to have good luck and is often tasked with hosting a celebration on Día de la Candelaria (Candlemas Day) on February 2nd.
More Reviews
Tripadvisor awarded Pan & Koffee its Travellers' Choice. Of course, this can change at any time, but when I last checked in 2025, it was even ranked number one among the 30 bakeries in Mérida.
You'll also often find reviews saying things like "The best coffee and pastries in Mérida!"
