The Natural History Museum has seven rooms: The Room of the Universe, the Paleozoic Era, the Mesozoic Era and the Cenozoic Era. Furthermore, an Audiovisual Room, a Room of the Ecological Reserve of Cuxtal and the Alacranes Stariff Room.
In addition to the seven permanent exhibitions, the museum has a temporary exhibition space that is made available to research centers, universities, environmental organizations or private collections. The temporary exhibits also focus on natural history, natural resource conservation, and flora and fauna research.
The history of the building
The building where the museum is located today has a interesting history. At the beginning of the 20th century it was first used as a residence, then it was converted into a nursing school.
From 1951 it was a school for aeronautical mechanics and a military hospital, until 1987, when it became what it is to this day, the Natural History Museum of Mérida. In addition to its website, you can also find Museo de Historia Natural on Facebook.
