First-Hand Insights on Casa T’HŌ Concept House

Casa T’hō is one of my favorite places in Mérida – a beautiful spot to shop, eat, and just take a break. It’s tucked away just a few steps from the remate de Paseo de Montejo, so it’s super easy to reach if you’re exploring the city center.

What I love most is the atmosphere: calm, elegant, and full of style. You’ll find contemporary Mexican fashion, design, and a few great places to grab a bite or a coffee. If you’re into thoughtful design and a laid-back vibe, it’s definitely worth a stop.

Opened in October 2017, Casa T’hō is housed in a stunning early 19th-century colonial mansion. Inside, you’ll find ten boutique shops, a restaurant that also functions as a café, and a small art gallery, all set in an elegant and relaxed atmosphere.

Occasionally, special events take place, such as live jazz nights. If you're curious about upcoming activities, it's worth checking their website for the latest event calendar.

Ever wondered about the name? Casa T’hō is named after T’hō, the ancient Maya name for Mérida, paying tribute to the city's rich cultural heritage.

Boutiques and Art Gallery

Similar to Art Gallery Caracol Purpúra, the individually designed boutiques and art gallery are arranged around a central courtyard and merge directly into each other (separated by doors).

Just like at Caracol Purpúra, I loved sitting in the courtyard here – enjoying a cup of coffee under the tall palm trees and taking in the calm, almost serene vibe of the bright white interior. It’s a great little spot to slow down for a moment.

Most of the boutiques are really very small, some with only one table in the middle on which goods are draped. But the same design concept runs through every single boutique and it's also fun to just look at all the things.

The boutiques offer fashion, signature jewelry, perfume, art, furnishings, stylized linen clothing, house decor, homeware and handicrafts. The Art Gallery Galeria Urbana displays Mexican art (paintings and sculptures).

I really liked that the selection in all the shops felt carefully curated rather than packed to the brim – it gave the whole place a calm, upscale feel. Prices are definitely on the higher side, but in my experience, the quality matches.

I also get the impression that the typical visitors tend to have a more sophisticated taste, making it a great spot for those looking for something unique and high-end.

Restaurant T'HŌ Aperitivo

Casa Tho offers you the perfect blend of upscale shopping and a relaxing atmosphere. As you explore its boutique stores, you can take a moment to unwind with a delicious meal or a freshly brewed cup of coffee.

The setting felt both elegant and welcoming to me – a perfect spot to take a break between shops or just relax for a while. If you enjoy places that blend style and comfort, like I do, you’ll likely enjoy spending time here too.

This is one of the things that makes Casa Tho so charming. In fact, we are more likely to come for lunch or a coffee than to go shopping.

T'HŌ Aperitivo is the perfect place to enjoy Yucatecan flavors in a cozy courtyard with a relaxed, stylish vibe. It’s a mix of restaurant, bar, and café – a great blend for a laid-back yet refined experience.

With just a few tables under the open sky, the setting makes every visit feel special. The menu is small but well put together, featuring dishes like salmon carpaccio and pasta with shrimp, each prepared with a touch of gourmet flair.

If you’re looking for a place to relax and soak up the vibe of Mérida, I’d definitely suggest checking out this little spot just a few steps from the Remate of Paseo de Montejo – I really enjoy spending time there.
